Alliant Energy and Ames Economic Development Commission (AEDC) are partnering to develop a new industrial center that will create jobs and spur economic growth in the region. Prairie View Industrial Center will provide 730 acres of prime development along Lincoln Way on the east side of Ames. The land has double-rail access and is well-suited for any industrial relocation or expansion project. AEDC is working to certify the full site as a “Super Park” through the State of Iowa’s certified site program.
Immigrants living in Iowa’s Story and Boone Counties are preserving American jobs and paying millions in state and local taxes, a new research brief released by New American Economy and the Ames Chamber of Commerce finds. Though making up just 6.6 percent of the population, they contributed $390 million to GDP in 2015 and paid $17.3 million in state and local taxes. Furthermore, nearly 97 percent of the immigrant population is employed.

The Ames Economic Development Commission (AEDC) in partnership with the International Economic Development Council, will celebrate the second annual economic development week in Ames. The weeklong celebration will emphasize the importance of economic development and showcase the efforts and initiatives improving business retention, job growth and quality of life for Ames-area residents. The 2017 event dates are May 8-13.
