Many businesses shy away from starting an internship program because they don’t know how to go about developing a program tailored to their specific needs. In an effort to encourage organizations in the Ames/Story County area to cultivate internship programs, the Ames Economic Development Commission (AEDC) has created an Employer Internship Guide.
Employers can consult the guide to begin building a framework for their particular organization. Once they have an intern program in mind, the guide provides a host of information that will help area employers connect with students. Contact Information is provided for both Iowa State University’s Career Management Service and Des Moines Area Community College. In addition, information about the AEDC’s job board website, workinames.com is included.
The AEDC stands ready to assist area companies as they craft the perfect internship program for their organizations. Once an intern program is in place, both businesses and students reap the rewards of working together.
